The Concept of Buy and Sell Windows

Throughout the following pages of this manual I will frequently refer to “Buy and Sell Windows”. A brief definition and discussion here will help to clarify these references.

When I speak of a “Buy Window” I am referring to an instance where an indicator ( or series of indicators ) has identified an area in which a buy signal can be taken. For instance, if on a chart there appears a buy signal from, for example, the Reversal indicator, a buy window is considered open at that point. During the time the buy window is open, all that is necessary to establish a long position is for the market to break through previously defined overhead resistance. This buy window is considered open until a sell window is opened by any indicator(s) which give a sell signal.

A sell window is considered open when any of a number of indicators, either individually or in combination with each other, issues a sell signal. As with the case of the buy window, the sell window is considered open until a buy signal is placed on the chart from an indicator or indicators. A short position may be taken at any time that a sell window is open. Short positions are usually taken when the market is successful in breaking through support which is established below the market.
